Alley trash is collected Monday through Friday.
Curbside Collection Information
In the Borough of Audubon, all curbside collections are placed out on your scheduled trash collection day. This includes:
- Household Trash
- Recycling
- Grass Clippings
- Brush
- Bulk Items
- White Goods
- Metal Items
- Electronics
Residents should place all materials at the curb before their scheduled collection day and follow the Borough’s guidelines for proper preparation and placement of each item type.
HOLIDAY TRASH COLLECTION SCHEDULE

If a holiday falls during the week, trash pickup for that week will be delayed by 1 day (a domino effect).

This modified schedule will help keep our Department of Public Works on schedule with tree work, road repairs, grass cutting, and sign replacement while maintaining reliable trash service.

TRASH & RECYCLING GUIDELINES
Trash and recycling must be separated in accordance with the New Jersey Source Separation and Recycling Act.

Trash and recycling may be placed curbside no earlier than 4:00 PM the evening before collection and no later than 6:00 AM on collection day.

Private contractors are responsible for removing construction or demolition debris generated by their work.
Trash Cans
- Maximum size: 40 gallons
- Maximum weight: 50 pounds when full
- Place cans at the curb with the opening facing the street
- Securely tie all trash bags before placing them in the can
- Replace damaged cans, especially containers with broken wheels
- Drill small drainage holes in the bottom of cans to prevent water buildup
Recycling Cans
To replace a recycling bucket (limit one per household), email k.melvin@audubonnj.com to be added to the replacement list. Please allow up to two weeks for delivery.
Large Items / White Goods
- Collected on your regular trash collection day
- Do not park vehicles in front of items awaiting collection
- Place items neatly at the curb; piles should not exceed 6 feet
- Cover items during inclement weather or place them at the curb the morning of pickup
Dog Waste
- Place dog waste in sealed bags inside your own trash can. Do not place pet waste in a neighbor’s trash can
- Use larger bags when possible to prevent bags from being missed at the bottom of the container
Kitty Litter
- Distribute weight between multiple bags or trash cans
Medical Waste
Medical waste is prohibited and may not be placed at the curb for collection.
Residents should dispose of medical waste properly by placing it in a secure, puncture-resistant container, such as an empty laundry detergent bottle. The container must be tightly sealed with masking tape and clearly labeled “Hazardous Waste.”
Paint
Oil-Based Paint
- Will not be collected with regular trash
- Must be disposed of at a hazardous waste collection site
- Contact the Camden County Division of Environmental Affairs at (856) 858-5241 for drop-off dates
Latex Paint
- Will only be collected when completely hardened
- Add kitty litter and allow paint to dry completely
- Leave the lid off when placing the paint container at the curb
Phones
- May be disposed of with regular household trash
Tires
- Accepted only when the rim has been completely removed
Carpet
- Cut into 4-foot bundles
- Securely tie bundles
- Each bundle must not exceed 50 pounds
- Contractors must dispose of carpet generated from their work
Discarded Wood
- Cut into 4-foot bundles
- Maximum weight: 50 pounds
- Remove or flatten all nails before disposal
Broken Glass
- Place broken glass in a paper bag or cardboard box before disposal to prevent injury
Trash & Recycling Can Disposal
To dispose of an old trash or recycling container:
- Clearly label the container “DISCARD CAN”
- Place it at the curb on your regular trash collection day
Basketball Hoops
- Separate the metal pole from the base before placing it out for collection
- If unable to separate the components, contact the Department of Public Works for assistance

Please note that trash and recycling collection is provided by The Green Guys, not the Borough of Audubon.
The Audubon Department of Public Works (DPW) continues to provide all other public works services to Haddon Heights residents.
