HOLIDAY TRASH COLLECTION SCHEDULE

 If a holiday falls during the week, trash pickup for that week will be delayed by 1 day (a domino effect).

  •  Monday pickup → Tuesday

  •  Tuesday pickup → Wednesday

  •  Wednesday pickup → Thursday

  •  Thursday pickup → Friday

 This modified schedule will help keep our Department of Public Works (DPW) on schedule with tree work, road repairs, grass cutting, and sign replacement while maintaining reliable trash service.

 We’ll continue to share updates on the borough website, social media, and at commissioner/caucus meetings. Flyers will also be available at Borough Hall, the Police   Department, and the Library.

Audubon Business District
Alley trash is collected Monday through Friday.


TRASH & RECYCLING GUIDELINES

Trash and recycling must be separated in accordance with the New Jersey Source Separation and Recycling Act.

  • Trash and recycling may be placed curbside no earlier than 4:00 PM the evening before collection and no later than 6:00 AM on collection day.

  • Private contractors are responsible for removing construction or demolition debris generated by their work.


SPECIFIC TRASH GUIDELINES

TRASH CANS

  • Maximum size: 40 gallons

  • Maximum weight: 50 pounds when full

  • Position opening toward the street

  • Securely tie all trash bags

  • Replace damaged cans (especially those with broken wheels)

  • Drill small drainage holes in the bottom to prevent water buildup

RECYCLING CANS

  • To replace a recycling bucket (limit of one per household), call 856-547-1240 ext. 126 or email s.jennetta@audubonnj.com to be added to the list.
  • Allow up to two weeks for delivery 

DOG WASTE

  • Place in sealed bags inside your own trash can

  • Use larger bags when possible so it is not missed at the bottom of the can

  • Do not place in a neighbor’s trash can

KITTY LITTER

  • Distribute weight between multiple bags or cans

LARGE ITEMS / WHITE GOODS

  • Collected on your regular trash day

  • Do not park vehicles in front of items

  • Organize neatly; piles should not exceed 6 feet

  • Cover during bad weather or place out the morning of pickup

MEDICAL WASTE

Medical waste is prohibited and may not be placed curbside

PAINT

  • Oil-based paint will not be collected. Dispose of it at a hazardous waste event
    Contact the Camden County Division of Environmental Affairs at (856) 858-5241 for drop-off dates

  • Latex paint will be collected only when fully hardened

    • Add kitty litter and allow to dry completely

    • Leave the lid off when placing it at the curb

PHONES

May be thrown out with regular trash

TIRES

Accepted only if the rim has been completely removed

CARPET

  • Cut into 4-foot bundles

  • Securely tied

  • No more than 50 pounds per bundle

  • Contractors must dispose of carpet generated by their work

DISCARDED WOOD

  • Cut into 4-foot bundles

  • Maximum 50 pounds

  • Remove or flatten all nails

BROKEN GLASS

Place in a paper bag or cardboard box before disposal to prevent injury.

TRASH & RECYCLING CAN DISPOSAL

  • Clearly label the container “TRASH”

  • Place out on regular trash day

BASKETBALL HOOPS

  • Separate the metal pole from the base

  • If unable to separate, contact the Department of Public Works for assistance

Haddon Heights Residents ONLYResidents of Haddon Heights should note that their trash and recycling collector is Green Guys, not the Borough of Audubon. The Audubon Department of Public Works (DPW) handles all other public works services.
