HOLIDAY TRASH COLLECTION SCHEDULE

CLICK HERE for PUBLIC WORKS HOLIDAY SCHEDULE
If a holiday falls during the week, trash pickup for that week will shift to one day later (a domino effect).

  • Monday pickup → Tuesday

  • Tuesday pickup → Wednesday

  • Wednesday pickup → Thursday

  • Thursday pickup → Friday

This modified schedule will help keep our Department of Public Works (DPW) on schedule with tree work, road repairs, grass cutting, and sign replacement while maintaining reliable trash service.

We’ll continue to share updates on the borough website, social media, and at commissioner/caucus meetings. Flyers will also be available at Borough Hall, the Police Department, and the Library.

Thank you for your support in keeping Audubon safe, clean, and running smoothly!

NEW RESIDENTS

Welcome to Audubon! We’re happy to have you in town.

Please note that residents are responsible for purchasing their own trash cans from a retailer of their choice. Cans should not be oversized, as trash is collected by hand.

If you need a recycling bin, the Borough provides one per household at no cost. Just let us know, and we’ll add you to the distribution list.

Audubon does not offer a separate bulk trash pickup. Bulk items—including electronics, white goods, metal, concrete, logs, and other large items—may be placed out on your regularly scheduled trash day. These items are collected by a separate truck that follows the regular trash route.

Trash & Recycling

Trash and recycling must be separated in accordance with the New Jersey Source Separation and Recycling Act. Garbage cans, bags, and recycling bins may not exceed 50 pounds. Any container exceeding this weight limit will not be collected. Trash and recycling materials may be placed at the curb no earlier than 4:00 PM the evening before collection and no later than 6:00 AM on the day of collection.

Audubon does not offer a separate bulk trash pickup. All trash must be placed out on your regularly scheduled collection day. Private contractors are responsible for the removal and disposal of any construction or demolition debris generated by their work.

If you need to replace your recycling bucket (limit of 1 bucket per household), you can call 856-547-1240 (X126) or email s.jennetta@audubonnj.com to be added to the list. The Borough does not supply trash cans.

SPECIFIC TRASH GUIDELINES

TRASH CANS

  • Trash cans must not exceed 40 gallons in size.

  • Each can may not weigh more than 50 pounds when full.

  • The Department of Public Works (DPW) does not supply trash cans.

  • Position the can opening toward the street for faster collection.

  • Ensure all trash bags are securely tied.

  • Replace damaged cans, especially those with broken wheels.

  • To reduce excess weight after rain, drill small holes in the bottom of cans to allow water to drain.

DOG WASTE

  • Place dog waste in sealed trash bags and dispose of it in your own trash can.

  • When possible, use larger bags so waste is not missed at the bottom of the can.

  • Do not place dog waste in a neighbor’s trash can. This helps maintain cleanliness and prevents issues.

KITTY LITTER

  • Distribute kitty litter between multiple bags or cans so no single container becomes too heavy.

LARGE PICKUPS / WHITE GOODS

  • Large items are collected on your regularly scheduled trash day.

  • Whenever possible, avoid parking vehicles in front of trash to allow for collection.

  • Organize debris neatly in one direction; piles should not exceed 6 feet in size.

  • If bad weather is expected, cover items or place them out the morning of collection.

MEDICAL WASTE

  • Medical waste is a prohibited material and may not be placed out for curbside pickup.

PAINT

  • Oil-based paint will not be collected. These items must be taken to a hazardous waste collection event or disposed of through Camden County.

    • Contact the Camden County Division of Environmental Affairs at (856) 858-5241 for scheduled drop-off days.

  • Latex Paint will be collected only if fully hardened.

    • To harden latex paint, add kitty litter and allow it to dry completely.

    • Place hardened cans at the curb with the lid removed.

PHONES

  • Old or broken phones may be disposed of with your regular trash.

TIRES

  • Tires may be placed out with regular trash only if the rim has been completely removed.

CARPET

  • Carpet must be cut and securely tied into 4-foot bundles weighing no more than 50 pounds each.

  • Contractors are responsible for disposing of carpeting generated by their work.

DISCARDED WOOD

  • Wood must be cut and tied into 4-foot bundles not exceeding 50 pounds.

  • All nails must be removed or flattened to prevent injury to DPW workers.

BROKEN GLASS

  • Broken glass must be placed in a paper bag or cardboard box to prevent injuries or torn trash bags.

TRASH & RECYCLING CAN DISPOSAL

  • Clearly label the container “TRASH” and place it out with your regular trash.

  • Containers will be collected on your normal trash day.

BASKETBALL HOOPS

  • Basketball hoops will be collected; however, the metal pole must be separated from the base.

  • If separation is not possible, please contact the Department of Public Works, and assistance may be available.
